Bad Marketing Ploy

Here is something I hate. I received a letter in the mail that explained I was now a preferred customer for my magazine subscription. Oh great. What does it do for me? Nothing. They will now autorenew my subscription. Hmmm. I was planning on letting that expire. Glad they solved that for me. Now I have to call and cancel. So, to become a prefered customer you just wait until your subscription is about to expire and do nothing and then suddenly your preferred. What a scam.

Blah Feeling

This whole weekend I felt lethargic. Now I just feel like my eyes are going to burst. Kinda like someone has been pushing on them with their thumbs.

Shipping Snafu

This last Friday I had to pickup my Amazon.com package from the UPS distribution center. Even though they had the correct address the delivery person would not deliver the package. It seems that the building manager some how removed my last name from the list at the front door. So since it wasn't there the package couldn't be delivered. You would think that since they leave the packages in the office anyway that he would have checked with them. So when I noticed that the package was listed as incorrect address I called and instructed them to redeliver. The operator believed that the driver couldn't find the apartment building. Yeah right. The building must get a few packages a day. There are at least 110 unites in the two buildings. So even after I instructed them to deliver it he sent it back to the distribution center. So, I had to drive to the center to pickup my package. You would think that wouldn't be too bad either. However, the line was about 20 people deep and took forever to get through. And it takes about 5 to 10 minutes for them to find your package.

I did however get an extra package that I didn’t know was coming. Matt bought me a copy of Where the Wild Things Are from my Amazon wish list.

Posting Photos

I need to start posting some photographs to the web site. I need to get access to a scanner so I can post some of my high school and college samples. If possible I need to get access to a slide scanner. A lot of my work from high school is in slide form. Plus I have a bunch of digital wedding photos need to be resized prior to being posted.

Valentine's Day Cheesecake

We have a giant cheesecake in our fridge at home. MB made it this weekend for Valentine's Day. When I say giant I mean it. The cheesecake was made in a 9 1/2-inch pan. To cook it MB had to float it in a turkey pan in the oven. Floating it is suppose to keep the cheesecake from drying out or burning. The turkey pan was the only thing I could find that it would fit in. I now have the enviable task of trying to eat the whole thing this week. I think that only about 1/4 has been eaten so far.

Fun With Taxes

I had Monday off for President's Day and decided to fill out our tax forms. I had no idea that the marriage penalty was so big. It makes quite a difference in the amount of taxes you pay. It kind of puts a damper on finishing and sending in your taxes early. At this point I think I will wait until the April 15th deadline before I send in the federal taxes. The Minnesota tax forms compensate for the marriage penalty found in the federal forms. I'll probably send in the state now and just hold off on the federal.

Restroom Air Freshener

I think they changed the automatic air freshener in the office restrooms. It was a lemon/citrus type of smell. Now it's some kind of a vanilla smell. Instead of reminding me of cleanliness it reminds me of a kitchen. I don't like having these two thought crossed.

Free Daredevil Tickets

MB got three tickets to a preview of Daredevil tomorrow morning. We're meeting Matt for breakfast at Perkins before the show. Should be interesting to see how it compares to the better known comic book character movies.

Office Bird Sighting

Yesterday I saw a hawk from the conference room window. It was just sitting in one of the trees on the north side of the building. Two crows chased him away. It's always impressing to see something like that. In the past I've seen deer, owls, eagles, a Pileated Woodpecker, and a woodchuck from the office.

Script Review

I've actually read one of Matt's scripts within four days of receiving it. I still have to provide feedback to him. It seems like it keeps taking me longer and longer to finish or even start some of his scripts. Not quite sure why though.

House Hunting

We looked at a house this last weekend. Nothing serious, just getting use to looking at houses. It will probably be at least next fall before we get serious. It's a little depressing to see how little your money can buy.

We finally provided our photo selections to the wedding photographer. It should take about a month to get back our final photos.
