Exploding Tire

I finally saw a tire on a semi blowup today. You always see all those pieces on the highway but never get to see the actual blowout. It wasn’t quite as interesting as I thought it would be.

Clumsy Me

Do you know what really sucks? When you trip or stumble and assume that your shoelaces have untied. So you look down to figure out which one you need to tied and realize that neither one is untied. You’re just clumsy.

Film Noir time

Four and a Half of Five Stars

Out of the Past

This is a great example of film noir. This film was engaging and suspenseful. Even the ending keeps in tune with the dark film. Plus it doesn’t hurt to see an older film on the big screen. This film stars Robert Mitchum, one of the best actors of his time. He plays a man that is trying to escape his past. This film is constantly dark and delivers what it promises.

Three and a Half of Five Stars

Criss Cross

And then, more film noir in the same night. It doesn’t get much better then that. “Criss Cross” doesn’t quite live up to the same level as “Out of the Past”, but it still does ok. This is another dark story of a man that is unable to escape his past and even more so his future. It revolves around a plan gone wrong and is worth a watch.

Three of Five Stars

Resident Evil

I guess I’m not forced to put high standards on a video game movie. The goal of this movie is to sell video games and scary the viewers. It accomplishes both of these goals. It has a large cast of special effects and even a few actors, but the real treat is the undead brainless zombies. Classic creature flick. Milla Jovovich wasn’t too bad. They really didn’t give here much to do or say though. Also, it appears that the ending was a set-up for the next film.

State Fair

Yesterday MB and I went to the state fair. We ate the normal fair foods. We ate mini doughnuts, corn dogs, cheese curds, turkey sandwich, snow cones, and olives on a stick. Drank Sprite, water in a bottle, fresh lemonade and probable other things. It’s hard to keep track of everything. Everything at the fair always seems like it’s stuck in time. Some of the stores look exactly like they did last year and for a few years before that. They did improve the food building though. It’s much easier to navigate. It has lost some of it old charm though.
